Make Tu B'Shevat greting cards with children at the Tu B'Shevat Seder.
Materials (adjust amounts for number of people expected)
9x12” White construction paper or 8½ x11” cardstock
Disposable tablecloth cover
Multiple colors of construction paper (construction paper is manufactured such that it will fade in light over a relatively short period of time; colored cardstock is more stable)
Colorful patterned types of paper (we used mostly interesting “used” (free) birthday and other gift-wrap; but also patterned scrapbooking paper or other specialty paper is nice as well)
Bottles of Elmer’s or other inexpensive school-type glues (not pastes)
Children’s scissors
Scrapbooking scissors with the interesting scissor blades (zigzag, scalloped, etc.)
Crayons – larger for small children and regular for older
Other optional materials:
Inexpensive shape or nature-theme stickers (you can also cut off the little pictures of return-address labels sent by charities)
Scrap ribbon and yard
Colored tissue paper
Used and washed Styrofoam trays or plastic mushroom trays to put supplies in
Methods
Set out groupings of materials out on tables.
Make a couple of cards using the materials in interesting ways to give people ideas for what they can do
Thanks so much to Beth Singer for creating this program.
