August 8, 2007

NEW YORK, NY— Canfei Nesharim (“the Wings of Eagles”), an organization dedicated to educating the Orthodox Jewish community about protecting the environment from the perspective of Torah and Jewish law, announced the launch this week of its new Internet Portal for Torah and the Environment.
Canfei Nesharim’s new website is a full web-based resource library, including a searchable database of articles on the connections between Torah and the environment. The Learning & Resources section also includes articles on environmental challenges, actions that will make a difference, and program ideas for synagogues and schools. In addition, the portal includes links to stores selling products that are better for the environment.

“After more than a year of effort, we are thrilled to launch the new website,” said Evonne Marzouk, Canfei Nesharim Executive Director. “The website will provide a user-friendly internet portal for Torah observant Jews to learn about the Torah connections to the environment, the environmental challenges we are facing today, and things we can all do and buy that will make a difference.”

The website also spotlights Canfei Nesharim’s new Torah Commentary on the Environment, which will be launched by email in October. Interested readers can now subscribe directly on the website at http://www.canfeinesharim.org/parsha/. Canfei Nesharim also is developing holiday materials, available for synagogues and schools for the upcoming Jewish holidays of Sukkos and Shemini Atzeres.

Canfei Nesharim’s new Internet Portal for Torah and the Environment was developed with support from Targum Shlishi and Bikkurim. Designed by Darim Online, the content was uploaded by Canfei Nesharim’s summer intern, Jennifer Bieber.
